Itinerary
This 6-day Mount Kenya hiking expedition takes you deep into the heart of Mount Kenya National Park. Starting and ending at Sirimon Gate, the route offers a perfect balance of acclimatization, adventure, and breathtaking landscapes. Hike through bamboo forests, open moorlands, and high-altitude ridges while spotting unique mountain flora and wildlife. Evenings are spent at comfortable mountain huts, with full support from our experienced guides and porters.

Depart Nairobi early in the morning and drive to Sirimon Gate. Begin your trek through scenic forest trails, gradually ascending to Old Moses Camp. Settle in for your first night on the mountain.
Continue ascending through dense bamboo and forest zones, enjoying rivers, waterfalls, and valley views. Overnight at Shipton Camp, preparing for higher altitude trekking.
Hike through open moorlands, passing giant lobelias and groundsels, and acclimatize for the summit attempt. Enjoy panoramic views of peaks and valleys. Overnight at high-altitude camp near Mackinder’s Valley.
Early morning ascent to Point Lenana, the trekking peak. Witness a stunning sunrise over Mount Kenya’s rugged peaks. Descend back to Mackinder’s Valley Camp for overnight.
Descend through moorlands and forested trails back to Old Moses Camp, retracing your steps while enjoying the mountain scenery. Overnight at Old Moses Camp.
Complete the descent to Sirimon Gate, then transfer back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon with unforgettable memories of the Mount Kenya adventure.

The trek is moderate to challenging, especially the summit day to Point Lenana. Good fitness is required, but acclimatization days make it manageable for most hikers.
The best hiking periods are January – February and July – October, when the weather is dry. Avoid heavy rains for safety and trail conditions.
Prior hiking experience is helpful but not mandatory. The guides provide support, and the trek is structured to allow acclimatization over six days.
Essentials include: trekking boots, warm clothing, gloves, rain jacket, hat, water bottle, personal toiletries, and a sleeping bag. We provide tents and bedding for high-altitude camps.
